Simple but quite charming little woodcut map of Gallia with Celtica, Aquitania, Angliar Pars, Narbonensis, Hispaniae Pars etc., based on Ortelius.

The map was printed and bound in such a way that it appears in two halves with each half being on a different leaf, which in this copy have been joined together. On the verso are two halves of two different maps.

Giuseppe Rosaccio (1530-1620) was a Venetian physician and cosmographer. He was an authority on the Geography of Claudius Ptolemy.

Gaul (Gallia in Latin), is the region of Western Europe occupied by present-day France, Belgium and other neighboring countries. In Roman administrative terminology this included several Provincia.
