DETAILS

The disappearance of Sir John Franklin and his crew in 1845 was an international news story, in part because Sir Franklin had by that time authored two books in the Arctic Discovery Series.

The expedition searching for the missing resulted in important advances in the exploration of Greenland and other previously unexplored Arctic regions.
