DETAILS

A highly decorative and detailed mid-19th century map of Egypt with large vignettes of the Mosque of the Sultan Hassan, Alexandria, Ruins of the Great Temple Karnac, Great Sphinx, Ghizeh and sail boats in the Red Sea which was drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin with the vignettes by J. Marchant & J. B. Allen.

The Illustrated Atlas, published from 1849 to 1853, was the last decorative world atlas.

CONDITION NOTES

The map is in very good condition with adequate margins. One original centerfold.
