DETAILS

Scarce map extending from Madeira and Lanzarote, to the border of France. Published in Montecalerio's "Chorographica descriptio Provinciarum et Conventuum Fratrum minorum S. Francisci Capucinorum", a very rare atlas of the locations of the convents of the Capuchins (a faction of reformed Franciscans recognized in 1628). There are several editions printed: 1st edition 1643 in Rome, 1649 Turin, 1712 Milan.

The map shows the main centres of the order in Spain & Portugal and its division into "Provinces" with a table underneath giving details of the numbers of religious houses and brothers etc.

CONDITION NOTES
